Can we honestly be in the middle of October already? It is amazing how quickly time goes by. I want to provide you with some updates on what has been going on in the school. We have had a pretty good start to the school year and our numbers of students have grown and we are very happy about that.
The majority of our kids have embraced and supported the culture and climate that we have worked hard to establish. That is that all people are to be treated with respect. Positive discipline is essential and is always part of teaching. We have a responsibility to help young people understand what acceptable behavior looks like in the “real world”. Our kids are recognizing that and are responding to it.
One of our major goals this school year is to increase the rigor in our studies. That doesn’t translate into MORE work. What it means is trying to find better ways to challenge kids to think more critically and to process things prior to responding. To be able to explain why they have made the decisions that they have and be willing to “listen” to others’ points of view. This is a tall order, but I am confident that we can get there.
Our fall season is coming to a close and our winter season is picking up. Lots going on in the building involving numerous extracurricular activities. I encourage you to challenge your student to get involved if he/she is not participating in anything after the school day. It helps support them socially, emotionally, mentally and physically. It helps instill a sense of commitment and dedication. Don’t we all need that?
As always, I feel blessed to be here in the role that I am in. I love what I do because I love your children. They keep me hopping. They are kind and respectful and so loving (yes, high school kids can be loving). At the end of most days, I think back on the day and smile or even laugh out loud because I have had the opportunity to interact with the kids. Thank you so much for this opportunity. I do not take it lightly. Thank you for your continued support of me and what I am trying to do for your child. If I can ever be of service to you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. You are welcome any time.
With Best Regards,
